The Day has reported that a 53-pound stingray was caught last Monday, September 2nd. While fishing for stripers from shore at Harkness Memorial State Park on Labor Day, Domingo Garcia found himself in the middle of a 30-minute fight, only to find out that his catch wasn’t a striper at all. After dragging the stingray to shore, Domingo’s son-in-law Jesus Tirado stuck a stick through his eyes, allowing them to bring the ray down the street to A.W. Marina, where it weighed in at 53 pounds and 92 inches from head to tip of the tail.
