The 33rd Annual Governor’s Surf Fishing Tournament was held at Island Beach State Park on May 19, 2024 where hundreds of anglers tried to land the largest tournament-eligible legal-sized fish and have their name engraved on the Governor’s Cup. However, it was Jonathan Dziekan of Bayonne who won with a 36 3/4-inch black drum!

For the High School Category, Pascack Hill High School took first place for the first time with a 33 1/2-inch bluefish.

The new Military Veteran’s Category had Brad Rodgers of Perkesy, PA win with a 32 3/4-inch bluefish.

A big thank you to Tsunami Tackle for donating a SaltX reel and Grumpys Tackle for donating Sandstorm rod for the Governor’s Cup winner’s prize. Also thank you to Celebrity Ford for providing transportation for disabled anglers.
