I have a couple of Diawa reels and they take a licking and keep on ticking! Just ask Mark Berg the fishing fanatic what he thinks about Diawa! Second to none! I want one!
Prior to moving to Maine from New Jersey thirty years ago, I always used Daiwa gear mainly for salt water/deep sea and surf/jetty fishing. I haven’t run across any reel that I would rather own then a Daiwa, but just couldn’t afford one once I made the move.
Purchased my first Diawa Black Gold Series about 35 yrs ago. I have beat this reel up on the rocks of the cape cod canal, surf fished it all over and seldom rinse it off. Basically, one annual rebuild to replace worn washers and new internal reel grease.
With all the abuse, it’s still one of my regular reels in use.
I’ve used Shimano gear almost exclusively for many years. I have accumulated dozens of their rods and reels for fresh- and saltwater. After focusing on lakes and ponds for the last decade, I am heading back to the salt for multi-species. Daiwa has a terrific reputation and I want to give them a try. A freebee would be a nice way to start.
Very good product
Worth a shot.
If this reel works as well as my Saltiga, I want it!
