Costa Del Mar Frigates with prescription lenses

I have always been a big fan of Costa Del Mar sunglasses and their wide range of stylish designs. The one drawback I found with their glasses had less to do with the glasses themselves and more to do with my own aging eyes. Over the years my distance vision has slipped a bit and as hard as I fought the thought of needing glasses for things like driving at night, TV and, oh yeah, spotting birds working bait fish in the distance, by the time I turned 40 I could no longer squint my way to 20/20 anymore, so I broke down and got prescription glasses and contacts. The problem was, when on the boat, I preferred wearing contacts under my pair of Costas to regular glasses. Try as I would, my contacts would still dry out when running the boat over 35 miles-per-hour, and I also had the problem of trying to tie knots up close with my distance contacts in, which was extremely difficult – especially at night!
I am happy to report that with the new Costa Rx glasses, all of those issues have fallen by the wayside. Today my Costa Frigate glasses are the first thing I reach for when heading out on the water. They fit incredibly and with the attachment clips that the Frigate come with I get the best of both worlds with the ability to block out all light while reading the water and then being able to remove them for everyday use off the water. Also, being somewhat traditional in style, the Costa Frigates have a narrow, sleek appearance as opposed to the broader arms that all of the younger kids are turning to.
If you require prescription glasses and are out on the water a lot, I highly recommend visiting the Costa website and browsing through the many styles of glasses they have. In two or three easy steps you can customize your own pair as I did!

Hey, on behalf of Costa, I wanted to thank you for the great review on our Rx shades! Great to hear you’re loving the Frigates. — Laurie
