Field Test Favorites: Lure Tubes

Though I’ve always been partial to slinging a plug bag over my shoulder on my surfcasting outings, I brought along the lure storage system offered by Lure Tubes on a trip to Mexico’s Pacific Coast  where I would be targeting the beautiful and exotic Roosterfish. The Lure Tubes feature a lid and a clip that allowed me to attach the tubes to my belt as I walked the beach. The benefits to this system over a traditional plug bag was that I was able to quickly exchange the lures I brought with me simply by switching out the tubes on my belt. That way, when the bite switched over from topwaters to jigs at mid-morning, I simply needed to swap out the tubes on my belt, and that way I wasn’t bogged down by a number of lures I no longer needed. Though I wouldn’t recommend wading with the lure tubes due to the possibility of accidentally knocking one off your belt, but for jetty and shore fishing, the tubes are quite helpful.
