We will resume sailing on Saturday at 7am! We headed out today to test the waters and the tog were biting great !!! Tons of life as expected pushed off the beach and into deeper water. Plenty of nice quality too. Looks great for the weekend fishing for those of you who are able to join us!! Office will be open again tomorrow. Just give a call or for that matter just come on down if you want 7am.
Focus on Recovery from Hurricane Sandy
Long Island was among the hardest hit areas by Hurricane Sandy, and it goes without saying that most people are focused on recovery, not fishing. Many shops are without power, although a few have just gotten it back, including Paulies in Montauk.
The only fishing worth mentioning this week is taking place a long way from the coast on the Lake Ontario tributaries. Steelhead fishing is looking good in the Salmon River. Fish have spread throughout the river according to the folks at All Season Sports in Pulaski. Egg patterns and stone flies have been the hot tickets. A fresh run of salmon also made its way into the river this week, all kings reported All Season Sports.
All in all, it’s tough to get excited about the fishing this weekend with so much devastation surrounding New York and Long Island. Hopefully, the power will come back on soon and the recovery process will go smoothly so down the road, when the time is right, New Yorkers can get out and wet a line as they continue to move forward after Sandy.
