Long Island Fishing forecast
As water temps rise, fluke will be showing in greater numbers and will be hungry when they arrive. Try using small bucktails tipped with squid or Gulp baits to catch some fluke. In the early season I prefer using the color pink to match the hatch, as fluke tend to be feeding on squid this time of year.
Striped bass are now being caught through out the island with many of the larger fish falling to fresh bunker chunks. Finding schools of bunker and live lining one is another option to pursue when targeting that large cow.
Porgy action to the east was pretty good this past weekend, and that body of fish will be moving west. Setting up on your favorite rock pile or wreck would be a good bet this weekend. Don’t forget the chum, as chum is key to keeping consistent action around the boat.
