New England Offshore Report
Bluefin Tuna
The bluefin bite is picking up big time. Anglers fishing jigs are connecting with multiple bluefin each day. Captain Eric Stewart has been finding them on the troll as well. On Wednesday, Stewart landed six tuna out of ten bites. The bluefin ranged from 48 to 71 inches. The Sword has been the hotspot this week.
Offshore
Still great fishing in the canyons. Bigeye tuna and longfin albacore are filling up the fish holds of boats, and the occasional wahoo or billfish is putting the icing on the cake of what has been an excellent offshore season.

New York/New Jersey Offshore Report
Congratulations to Scot Cohen, owner of the C Jam, who took second place in the white marlin division of the Mid-Atlantic 500 this past week with an 81-pound fish that was just 3 pounds off the lead. Scot is also the owner of C Jam Yacht Sales in Somers Point, the marina I have been using for years. He and the CJam crew get the “Big Check” but 3 pounds more would have made it much bigger
Captain Rich of Jersey Hooker Outfitters reported that the northern canyons are all producing well when the wind allows the boats access. Bigeye tuna, long fin and some yellowfin are at the top of the charts. There have been some reports of white marlin as well.
Dave from The Reel Seat in Brielle, NJ said that reports are coming in about tuna in the Hudson. The 100 square also had some action but it seems to be moving. There are a few swordfish in the mix as well. Most of the action has been on the troll. Once again, bigeyes are ruling the waters with yellow fin and long fin making a strong showing. I asked John if he heard of any wahoo but he hasn’t heard of any being taken. Inshore, there are reports of chicken dolphin 6 to 8 miles out.
