Enjoyed a super afternoon being entertained by awesome American shad at Rocks Village, West Newbury. Landed several quality hens pushing 4 pounds. These are super gamers on light tackle, making solid drag-pulling runs with a few tarpon-like leaps. Best early season run I’ve seen in many years. Was using light spinning tackle and a small gold willow leaf flutter spoon rigged two feet beneath a tungsten 3/8 the ounce slip sinker above a small barrel swivel. Fished slow with an occasional twitch… Lots of fun!
