Today (5/12/2014) we had a nice batch of flounder but found ourselves 3 fish shy of the limit. There was no wind and no drift so the crabs were having their way with us! Heather did get an 18-incher and Dan was in awe of how she was outfishing him about 10 to 1. I somehow found a 21.5-inch fish that was pretty skinny and was a shade under 4 pounds. It’s good to see better sized fish show up finally!
Another oddity today was the 1st yellowtail flounder I have seen in the past 3 years! I used to see 3 or four of them per year in one deep spot but this was in 12 feet where I have never seen one before.

There are definitely more flounder around this year than last as we are even starting to see them in areas that were barren last year.
Open boat this week is pretty booked up but there are spots available for next Tuesday and Thursdays trips.
I am now announcing three “special open trips”, Sunday June 8th at noon-5pm and both trips (6-11am and noon-5pm) on Monday June 9th. There is a good guy from Virginia who booked the trips and now his crew has backed out on him so he wants me to fill the gaps. These are during “prime time” for the biggest kind of flounder and most of the open boat trips around then are already full. First come, first served by reservation only!
