Boston Harbor Flounder (Little Sister Charters)

Saturday (May 17, 2014) started out as “dismal at best” with the monsoon wind and rain combo hitting hardest about the time I was paddling my little kayak out to my mooring to get my boat. That trip was a lot of exercise! My crew today is the same crew I have had for the past 5 years on this third Saturday in May, the Day of Santini’s Zobo Flounder Tournament. “Team Little Sister” won 1st and 2nd or 1st , 2nd and 3rd for 3 of the past 4 years. Things (understandably) started slow but the weather cleared up and the fish turned on and we did quite well! Today we had 2nd and 3rd for the contest with a 3.35 and a 2.91. The fish that beat us out for 1st was 3.39. We won’t let this go unanswered next year!
We did manage to limit out on 40 fish of 14 inches and up making it a great flounder day as well as about 10 bass including the 1st keeper of the year. I am looking forward to the outlook for the rest of the week!

I can’t wait to get out there and catch some flounder. As a youngster I would row out from Marginal Rd. in Nantasket and catch them. Now I launch my boat at Winthrop Landing.
Thank you Capt. Jason Colby for your fishing reports.

Hi Ben – I’m sorry I didn’t see what you wrote until just now. You must have some flounder stories to tell as well! I hear the waters around the NH coast have had a resurgance of flounder too so go get ’em!!!

    Yours,

    Captain Jason
