Nearly the entire northeast has a shot at catching keeper bass up to 30 pounds this week. Here are a few hot spots that have been producing over the last week:

1) Big stripers continue to shadow the bunker schools off Ocean and Monmouth counties.
2) Western Long Island Sound has been giving up 30- and 40-pound bass (and big bluefish) around bunker schools off New Haven to Fairfield.
3) Several large stripers have been caught from the surf in Montauk, and schools of big bass are beginning to show up in the rips off Montauk Point.
4) Upper Narragansett Bay has good-sized stripers shadowing bunker schools.
5) Martha’s Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands have been producing trophy-sized bass to 40 pounds for surfcasters and boaters.
6) Provincetown has a big school of stripers to 30 pounds chasing sand eels and sea herring.
7) The outer Harbor Islands and Salem Sound finally have 20- and 30-pound bass on live mackerel.

#4 couldn’t be more on point. Saturday 6-7-14 in the Narragansett bay the bunkers were on fire and so were the stripers. 34, 32 and 24 pounders landed. Epic day!

My 11 yr old nephew caught his first striper at Plum Island. Just a schoolie, but the look on his face made it better than me catching a cow. Loved it!!!
Take a kid fishing and make some memories.

Stripers in the sound and ocean, nothing on the north shore or south shore beach. Not many birds .I see fewer and fewer surf guys. Dang, this year might make last year look good.
