Northern New Jersey Fishing Report for 7-10-14

Keyport

According to Joey’s Bait Shack, fluke fishing off the bulkhead has been great along with crabbing in the Keyport area.

John at Keyport Marine Basin said fluke fishing in the bay has been great. Walter Schweikardt caught fluke up to 6.23lbs and Eric Thein landed a 6.63lb fluke.

Bound Brook

The folks at Efinger’s didn’t have much to report, but they did want to mention they have a have a large 20% off sale going on right now. This sale is on fishing and guns, and ends the 13th of July.

Bradley Beach

According to the crew at The Bait Shop, fluke fishing remains strong with blues bouncing around. The bass fishing slowed up some.

Brielle

At the Reel Seat Dave said Yellowfin, White Marlin and Blue Marlin are all being caught in the Canyon. Dave wants everyone to know that Chris Hewitt of the Big Mohawk will be at The Reel Seat on July 17th at 7:00pm to give a free seminar on fluke fishing. Come down to the Reel Seat and check it out.

Hazlet

According to Phil at the Tackle Box, blues up to 13lbs are being caught in Raritan Bay. fluke fighing is getting better by the day. Spots and Croakers are being caught on worms.

Lake Hopatcong

Dow’s Boat Rental said its hybrid striper tournament will begin this Saturday at 5am and run until noon on Sunday.

Laurence Harbor

Joe at Tackle US stated fluke fishing is going very well but the blues and bass have slowed up.

Atlantic Highlands

Joe at Julians said some nice bass are being caught at the point of Sandy Hook. fluke fishing is great with catches up to 7 pounds.

The word from Bingo Sport Fishing is fluke fishing is hot in Raritan Bay along with blues being caught daily.

Belmar

Pete of Parker Pete’s states fluke fishing is good Some nice fluke are being caught. bass and blue’s have slowed up.

Scott at XTC Sportfishing reports great Tile & Cod fishing. Mako shark fishing has been good as well.

Steve at Skylarker Sportfishing Steve reports the wreak fishing has been great with catches of King & sea bass. Some nice fluke also being caught.

Chris on The Big Mohawk says fluke fishing is going well with catches up to 8 pounds These flatties are being caught on bucktail & Gulp combinations.

Night Blue fishing is great aboard the Miss Belmar Princess. Day Blue fishing has also been producing very well. ling & sea bass also strong.

Night Blue fishing is the ticket aboard the Royal Miss Belmar, with some nice blues being taken. ling & sea bass are doing very well and fluke fishing is still producing.

Capt Cal is running a fluke marathon every Tuesday from 7am – 4pm. Ray Pierce of Hamilton, NJ took a 10-pound, 10-ounce fluke this week.

Bayonne

The report from True World Tackle is that fluke fishing is good, and there are plenty of croakers mixed in. The croakers are being caught on worms.

Best Bet for the Weekend

fluke fishing is the way to go this weekend. Big fish are being caught, and with croakers and sea bass sometimes in the mix, the action has been great.
