According to the folks at Sandy Hook Market, fluke fishing is getting better each week. Gulp, squid and spearing are the ticket.
Belmar
Joe Sr. at Joey’s Bait Shack said fluke fishing is the way to go. Some bass are being caught but fluking is the best bet.

Bradley Beach
The Bait Shop reports that fluke fishing is great with fish up to 8 pounds. A few Bass are being caught as well.
Brielle

John at the Reel Seat reports the canyons broke open with bluefin and yellowfin. Trolling seems to be the way to go. Fluke fishing remains good. Capt. Ken from Big Kid Sportfishing said he will begin running to the canyons as tuna fishing turned on. Fluke fishing remains a solid bet as well.
Hazlet
Phil at the Tackle Box weighed in a 53-pound Bass that was caught by Roco Casso on a eel. Fluke and croaker fishing has been getting better by the day.
Keyport
Jim Caltabellatta and party brought 10 keeper Fluke up to 7 pounds into Keyport Marine Basin. Bill Julrass and friends had 7 keepers up to 6 pounds and a 36-pound, 4-ounce bass that was caught on a strip of squid.
Laurence Harbor
Bob Glynn came weighed in an 11-pound, 4-ounce fluke at Tackle US this week. He caught the doormat on Gulp. Bluefishing remain solid.
Robbinsville
The word from Harry’s Adventure Outfitters is that brown sharks along with sand tigers are being caught in good numbers. Fluke fishing inside the rivers and bays remains good.
Best Bet for the Weekend
After weathering the storm, getting after some fluke is the best bet for this long weekend. Bucktails and Gulp seem to be catching best, but long strip baits will help cull through some of the undersized fish.

Hit a head boat out of the highlands on saturday after the storm. My son had 10 shorts, I had 5 short along the Earl pier. All on spearing. I tossed gulp, bucktails, combo’s. Big fish was 3 pounds at best, caught at 8 am, and held the pool. Where are they, Are they finally wise to jigs and gulp?
Tough Year. I am going to try off the beach with my permit in hand. Any tips?
