Fall is a great time for fishing and boating in Berks County.
Cooler temperatures kindle trout fishing activity, and changing fall foliage is an ideal reason for a paddling trip or boat ride.
Upcoming trout stockings include the Tulpehocken Creek downstream of Blue Marsh on Oct. 3, and Scott’s Run Lake Oct. 6.
On the Tulpehocken Creek, bait fishing is permitted only downstream of the Red Covered Bridge, with a three fish limit (Extended Trout Season regs). Upstream of the Red Covered Bridge, the Tulpehocken Creek is regulated as HYPERLINK “http://fishandboat.com/fishpub/summaryad/delayedartificial.html” Delayed Harvest Artificial Lures Only with no bait permitted and anglers must release all trout caught. The special regulations area is well posted. The Tulpehocken Creek is well worth the trip!
Scott’s Run Lake is located in French Creek State Park, and it is a perfect place to get the kids out fishing for the day. Boating is permitted (electric motors only), and the lake is open 24/7 for fishing and boating.

Deep Creek Lake in Montgomery County is a great place for kids to enjoy a great day of fishing. PFBC stocks Deep Creek Lake seasonally with trout, and the lake sustains a great bass population and panfish to keep the little ones’ attentions. The park’s main entrance offers parking, facilities, playgrounds, and access to all the hiking and biking trails.
