The tautog bite has turned on in Buzzards Bay over the past two weeks, with clusters of fish in the 4-6 pound range being found regularly. OTW’s Matt Rissell and Ian Crowley headed out into Buzzards Bay on Friday morning aboard the Hussy in search of a strong ‘tog bite and were able to find a pile of keepers, including two double-ups, holding just off rocky bottom. Green crabs on dropper rigs featuring 50-pound test, 2/0 Gamakatsu hooks and a 5-oz bank sinker were the offering of choice.
If you’re planning on heading out there yourself, remember, the 2014 limit for tautog in Massachusetts is 3 fish per day at 16 inches.
