On The Water contributor Captain Bobby Rice of Reel Deal Charters landed a 423-pound bluefin tuna on Friday, one of the largest ever caught on a spinning rod and reel. The massive fish hit a Point Jude Deep Force lure and took an hour to land, with the entire crew on board sharing in the battle.

That isn’t even close to record size on spinning gear. A Shimano America product manager caught a 1000 lb Bluefin last month on the Shimano SW Stella spining reel.
