Rhode Island Blackfishing Report | Nov 10, 2014

On Monday, November 10, a friend and I loaded up my Grady White at Mystic Point Marina and headed out into flat calm seas armed with plenty of live Green Crabs into a light southwest wind –a perfect blackfishing scenario. We set anchor at the last hour of high tide. Within minutes we had our first fish, a very respectable 8 pounder. 15 minutes later another near nine-pounder, and as we came to the top of the tide, we had two more in the box. I wont reveal our exact location, but we were on the New York side of Fisher’s Island Sound. These fish were all caught within a 3 hour window. We have been doing this all over the sound since the season opened! The blackfish season this year has been “OUT OF CONTROL” just as has been the case for sea bass. Thank you for your accurate reports, I fish weekly in the Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut waters and your reports coincide with my own findings.
