Pennsylvania Northwest Region Fishing and Boating Report
Crawford County
Pymatuning Reservoir–Some very nice bluegills are being caught fishing from the docks in the Jamestown Marina. Anglers are using small jigs tipped with grubs. It takes a little looking because people are fishing the underwater weeds and brush piles.
Erie County
Presque Isle Bay and channel- A couple of burbot anglers reported a few hits but not catches under cold fishing conditions. Otherwise, conditions for fishing for burbot were good with little current in the channel. Upcoming weather conditions are expected to be good with little wind and a calm bay.
20 Mile Creek – North of Route 5 is holding a decent number of fish and flows are good.
Note: All unpowered boats (canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, rowboats, etc.) launching or retrieving at PFBC access areas and DCNR state parks or forests must have a current boat registration (issued by any state), or PFBC Use Permit, or DCNR Launch or Mooring Permit. For more information, visit http://fishandboat.com/registration.htm
Wyoming County
Anglers were catching walleyes and smallmouth bass on the Susquehanna River near White’s Ferry PFBC access area on Saturday with the brief spell of nice weather. Best baits were jigs and worms fished slowly. The river is about three-four feet above normal. Anglers should seek out the backwaters and sheltered areas and wear a PFD if fishing from boat.

Tioga County
The forecast looks good to be fishing soon! The smaller lakes are mostly iced over still and have been refreezing at night. If the current forecast stays accurate, anglers should be ice fishing on Hills Creek and the farm ponds by the weekend, if not earlier.
Boaters-Please be safe and wear your life jacket! It is not only good common sense, but in PA, it is the law from November 1st to April 30th. Find out more here: http://fishandboat.com/boatcrs/pfd/faq-pfd-cold.htm.
The staff of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission wishes you and yours a Happy and Healthy New Year! May your dreams turn into reality and your efforts into great achievements. Tight Lines!
