MORNING
On The Water Sales Rep, Ryan Bibeau and I did some carp fishing this past Saturday. Despite it being the second day of spring, falling snow let us know it was decidedly still winter as we set out our baits.
AFTERNOON
After lunchtime, the clouds parted and spring started to shine through. Hatching bugs replaced falling snowflakes and feeding carp kept us busy until it was time to leave.

Grats! Good to meet you Jimmy.
Thanks Hugo, good meeting you too. Keep sending Andy recipes!
I saw you guys. That’s me across the river from you. I left shortly after you got there. I got one.
what rivers have carp around Boston
Nice to see someone fishing for carp this time of the year. Questions, where were you fishing? What bait were you using? I live in New Haven area, Any places do you know of that I can try on shore?
Not trying to be a snot, but providing no information other than “it was cold in the morning, sunny in the afternoon and you caught some carp” doesn’t help your readers. You don’t even tell us what State you were fishing in or the body of water or even type of water, strategy or technique.
chris R, I agree, they advertise by saying, know where the fish are, become a better fisherman by subscribing to us but yet they never tell where they were fishing in these articles.
Leverett Pond in Brookline has carp and is currently thawed.
As a retired Brookline Police Sergeant 36 years I saw many huge carp caught in the Brookline Resevoir. There are also trout stocked there and bass and pickerel and red perch. I believe the state record carp came out of there. I don’t know if I would eat those fish but the Reservoir is as clean as any other back up water supply. You might need to do more research. It is on Route 9. The Hammond Pond in Chestnut Hill has large numbers of big carp in it and you can fish early in the season right behind the mall on route 9. I would not eat these fish because of runoff into the water. The Charles river has big carp and there is access to fish at numerous playgrounds from Brighton to Cambridge. Do a little exploring and you will find plenty of carp. Don’t use corn as bait because it cannot be digested by the fish. A mixture of chicken gizzards and the stuff inside whole chickens ground up with dough make the best bait. Google it and you’ll find what you need . Good luck they fight hard. Some restaurants charge a lot of money to cook and serve carp. Leverett Pondin Brookline is small and easy to find but I’d rather fish in Jamaica Pond which is still thawing out.
