Fishing in Lindenkohl Canyon on May 15, Mark Milici of Doylestown, PA caught a 23-pound, 4-ounce blueline tilefish, eclipsing the old record caught last year aboard the Voyager party boat by 4 ounces. The new record measured 35.5 inches in length and had a girth of 22.5 inches.

Though the former state record blueline  tilefish are larger than the all-tackle world record (20 pounds, 8 ounces taken off Virginia), since it was caught using an electric reel, the catch did not conform with IGFA regulations.  No word yet on the gear used on Milici’s tilefish catch and whether or not it will be eligible for a world record.
