Clarion County
Kahle Lake
Anglers continue reporting good numbers of Largemouth Bass and some Yellow Perch, crappies &Bluegills.
Upper Clarion River
With the cool temperatures anglers are still reporting good numbers of Smallmouth Bass and some trout. The bass continue to be caught along the entire length of the river while the trout are still being taken near the mouths of Cather’s & Blyson Runs. All boats, including canoes & kayaks using the PFBC’s Gravel Lick Access Areas must be registered to use this facility.
Piney Dam
The Toby boat ramp will be closed starting July 7th to July 11th. Brookfield power has hired a contractor to remove the sand bar in front of the boat ramp there. With the lack of recreational boats due to the drawdown anglers continue to report catching Channel Catfish in good numbers, a few Walleyes and good numbers of Smallmouth Bass.
Allegheny River
With the cool temperatures Walleyes and Smallmouth Bass are still being reported near the Parker islands and the mouth of the Clarion River. All boats, including canoes & kayaks, using the PFBC’s Parker & Brady’s Bend Access Areas must be registered to use these facilities.
Venango County
Allegheny River
Anglers are reporting catching several nice Smallmouth Bass throughout the Franklin area when the water and weather cooperate. Tubes, flukes, and a few smaller jerk baits or crankbaits seem to be the ticket when the bass hit.
Justus Lake
Anglers are reporting catching several nice Tiger Muskellunge and Rainbow Trout recently. They are also reporting Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass being caught in the shallows on frogs or buzz baits late in the evening or early morning.

North Branch Susquehanna River
Bass have been very active despite the high, muddy water,. Anglers targeting bass are reporting favorable results using bright colored crank baits.
With the river running full, even small rain events can raise the river levels to unsafe conditions. Make sure to keep one eye on the weather and the other current stream flows when planning your next fishing trip. Cloe Dam
Rainbow Trout are being caught in the deeper sections of the lake (15 to 20 feet) using redworms and nitecrawlers.
Sandylick and Redbank Creeks
Trout are being caught again, now that stream levels are returning to normal. Spinners and live bait are both working.
Centre County
Bald Eagle Creek
Anglers are catching trout in the early morning hours using minnows. Anglers are also catching trout during those hours using a variety of nymphs (walts worms; bead head prince nymphs; and green weenies). Once the sun gets overhead, the bite declines rapidly; but a few fish are still being caught in the shade line and deeper water.
Spring Creek
Anglers are catching trout using streamers in the morning and a variety of nymphs throughout the day.
Clinton County

Water flows are still great! Anglers are catching trout using a variety of nymphs (bead head prince; green weenies; and squirmy wormies). Early morning streamer fishing is also proving to be quite successful.
Lycoming County
Rose Valley Lake
Anglers are catching lots of bass; most are 15 inches or under, but the bite is on! One angler brought in a bass weighing in at 2.7lbs. The lures of choice are Senckos and green pumpkinseed tubes.

Unpowered boats used at Commission lakes or access areas, PA state parks or PA state forests must be:
- properly registered, or
- display an official and valid Commission use permit, or
- display an official and valid watercraft launch or mooring permit issued by DCNR.

Several upcoming unpowered watercraft races provide local opportunities for paddlers to test their skills and endurance. These featured events for canoeists, kayakers and paddle boarders will take place on various sections of the Lower Susquehanna, as well as Exelon’s Muddy Run Lake. Saturday, July 18, the 2nd Annual Susquehanna Gateway Flatwater Challenge launches from Indian Steps on the York County side of the Susquehanna River’s Lake Aldred (8 mile impoundment formed between the Safe Harbor Dam and Holtwood Dam). For race details:

On Saturday, July 25, the 2nd Annual Race to the Rock launches from Koser Park, Race Street Bainbridge with a 9 a.m. start, racing eight miles downriver to the Chiques Rock Outfitters location on the Chiques Creek. The second race will be an attainment race launching from the Columbia River Park with paddlers racing upriver to the Chiques Rock Outfitters location at Chiques Creek. On Saturday, August 8, the 5th Annual Chiques Challenge sponsored by the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce kicks off with a trail run from East Donegal Townships section of the Northwest River Trail. Per the SVCC website:
“Participants in this event have such a great time they tell us they can’t wait to do it again! The “Chi Cha” is a duathlon event which combines running and kayaking. The morning begins in Columbia’s River Park. Participants will be transported to Vinegar Ferry Road for the official 8:30 am start, then will run along the river via the Northwest Trail and on through Marietta. There, runners will take to the river aboard a kayak and finish downstream at Columbia. We’ve partnered with Shank’s Mare and Chiques Rock Outfitters for this event which is held rain or shine. Due to the nature of this event, pre-registration is required. New this year: team registrations. For more information call 717-684-5249. Please, no pets.”
