Oswego County
Mary Ellen Barbeau
Oswego River Report:
The water flow started climbing on Friday reaching over 9,000cfs. It has been up and down some during the last couple of days running at 7, 070cfs this morning. Snow blanketed the area with 3-5 inches overnight. By midweek temperatures will temporarily reach into the 50s once again. Although the action has been a bit slow, anglers are finding some nice steelhead, rainbows, and browns throughout the river. Egg sacs, smack beads and skein continue to be working well.
According to Capt. Kevin Davis of Catch the Drift:
Well the water levels have been changing about every hour lately. The increase turns the bite on and then the drop always turns it off. We’ve been moving around getting a few bites here and there. I’ve given up on hoping for rain – only the water from draining the lakes to look forward to. All released to fight another day.
The bridge to Leto Island is closed, and there are Mandatory Personal Flotation Device (PFD) zones on the Oswego River below the Varick Dam. For more information, view the Oswego County Tourism web site at www.visitoswegocounty.com and look for the fishing report along the top bar on the home page. The Oswego Fire Department offers loaner life jackets at no charge through its “Loaner For Life” program. For more information contact the fire station, 35 E. Cayuga St., at 315-343-2161.
Salmon River Report:
According to Whitaker’s Sport Shop and Motel:
Please check the waterline for the latest update. The water level came down to 335cfs over the weekend. The upper end of the river in Altmar continues to get the most fishing pressure but is also producing the most action. Sunday was another day of mixed reports from anglers; some anglers got into a few fish, while others did not. For those anglers who are bottom bouncing or float fishing, blue, pink and chartreuse egg sacs, trout beads or pink worms have all produced results. For those anglers who are fly fishing single egg patterns and nymphs have been producing results.
According to the Douglaston Salmon Run:
Yesterday was a bit windy with some occasional snow flurries. We had several anglers come off the river with each reporting 2 or 3 fish taken. The lower section was productive at first light, the middle section produced the most number of fish, all steelhead.
Oneida Lake Report
Conditions are about the same on the lake. Cooler temperatures are expected over the next few days with some rain and possible snow showers. Anglers are still finding some perch in the bays and the walleye night bite has continued just before and after dark. Casting stickbaits and blade baits is working well. A reminder that from November 1 to May 1, all persons regardless of age, aboard a pleasure vessel less than 21 feet, must wear a Personal Floatation Device while underway.
Sandy Pond report
The pond is quiet this time of year.

Streams
The streams could use more water but that’s been the case for Maxwell Creek most of November. They are catching browns on the north side of Lake Road in the slower water. Beads, egg sacs and even small spoons will work if the fish are hitting.
Cast out using torpedo bobbers. You can also try the mouth of Maxwell and cast out into Lake Ontario with Cleos.
Pier fishing is hot and cold at the channel of Sodus Bay. Anglers have caught some steelhead; however the wind has prevented pier fishing. It seems like it’s always blowing this autumn.
The cold temperatures we have now (30’s) will not last. This week is predicted to be mild so at least the streams will be ice free.
Bays
Ice anglers are hoping for some colder temps. Hopefully we’ll see a solid ice season. Perch have been hitting at Sodus Bay; however no one is at Port Bay to offer a report.
Last season we had the ice but the perch fishing was slow. Hopefully we have a productive season for 2016.
Remember, you need to wear your flotation device at all times starting November 1st. It has to be worn, not just sitting somewhere in the boat. This is a New York State law for all waterways.

Erie Canal
You can catch and keep bass until November 30th and the best spot is the canal. Launch your boat at Widewaters and fish the shoreline past the Port Gibson Bridge. Consider it the last cast of the season.
Orleans County
Orleans County Tourism
With the de-watering of the Erie Canal in progress and the possibility of rain in the forecast for several days over the next week, Water levels on all of the tributaries within Orleans County should rise to more moderate levels.
Along with that, night time temperatures that will be around the freezing mark which will bring water temperatures to more seasonable levels and we should be in for some very good fishing conditions.
Fishing on the lower reaches of Sandy, Marsh and Johnson Creeks is spotty but should greatly improve with increased water flow.
On the “Oak” there seems to be good numbers of Brown trout and Steelhead from the Waterport Dam North past the Archer’s Club and a waning number of Salmon in the mix.
Also on the “Oak” Perch are being taken in fairly good numbers south of the bridges area.
On Lake Alice Perch are being taken south of the Kenyonville Bridge along with some Bass.
With hunting season in full swing, fishing pressure on all of the tributaries within Orleans County is greatly reduced so there is plenty of open water for you to ply your fishing trade on.
