Northeastern Region

Wyoming and Northern Luzerne County

Remember, as you begin the process of removing your moored or docked boats from the water to prepare them for storage remove any accumulated vegetation or material from the boat and trailer at the ramp before you leave. A few moments of care can mean the difference in keeping our waterways safe from invasives.

Also, remember to remove your fire extinguisher and store it in a temperature-controlled location to avoid damage from changing temperatures over the winter. Also, ensure you clean and thoroughly dry your PFD’s and store them in a dry area save from exposure to sunlight.

While you’re putting away your boat this is a great time to bring your trout rods back out. Many area waterways around the area are set to receive their Fall Stockings the first week of October. Officers are happy to see you come out to assist and this gives you a ringside view of the trout we are releasing and the areas you may find them.

Southeastern Region

Check the online trout stocking schedule for opportunities to catch them this fall. Trout stocking will start up again in the region next month.

Many creeks and the rivers are still running high and off-color with the rains that just keep moving through the area. Try pitching dark lures or lure with flash. Smelly baits can yield catfish even in the off-color waters.

Lehigh County

Leaser Lake

Due to cooler water temperatures, anglers are catching Largemouth Bass at Leaser Lake near the wooded timbers along the northern shoreline using spin baits and medium-sized jerk baits.

E. Schuylkill County

Lake Tuscarora and Locust Lake

The fishing is starting to pick up with the water slowly cooling down and the lakes turning over. Yellow Perch are being caught at Lake Tuscarora and Locust Lake on worms in the morning but seem to shut down after lunch. Trout fishing at the lakes has also picked up as the trout are coming near the shorelines again. Minnows and butterworms have worked well.

Schuylkill River

Catfish are hitting on the usual baits of chicken livers, night crawlers and shrimp in the Schuylkill River near Landingville. Bass fishing has been decent in the mornings and at dusk, but slow during the heat of the day. Bass fishing in the rivers and streams has been tough due to high water levels.

Little Schuylkill River

The Little Schuylkill River still has a good number of trout but continues to have high water, but clarity is generally good on the upper sections of the stream.

Tuscarora Lake

Trout stocking picks up again October 4 at Tuscarora Lake. Fall trout fishing can prove to be a lot of fun and there is generally very little pressure.
