Northeastern Region

Southern Luzerne & Columbia Counties

Susquehanna River

The Susquehanna River, due to the heavy rainfalls, has been mostly unfishable over the past month. However, once the rains subsided, savvy anglers turned their attention to catfish and had some remarkable success. Also, with the water level returning to normal flows and clearing up the bass, walleye and even musky fishing have really turned on! Most success is coming with crankbaits, or live bait such as shiners.

FEW Reservoir

FEW Reservoir continues to give up some nice panfish. Although, most of that is coming from the creek and river arms by those anglers in boats.

Lily Lake

Lily Lake is producing bass and panfish, mostly in early mornings or evenings, while the local trout streams have received virtually no pressure due to high waters.

Briar Creek Lake

Anglers at Briar Creek Lake have been doing well with carp. The best baits seem to be homemade concoctions of dough baits and corn.

Lehigh River

The Lehigh River has been giving up some very nice smallmouth bass as well.

REMINDER:

Lily Lake, Lake Irena and Briar Creek Lake are all scheduled for fall trout stockings. Check the website for additional information.

Monroe County

Private community lakes have seen a dramatic rise in usage of unpowered watercraft, such as kayaks and paddleboards. For the most part, operators have had life jackets on board and a large number of people are wearing it. Remember, the only way a life jacket can save yours is if you are wearing it!

Wyoming and Northern Luzerne Counties

Harveys Lake

bass fishing on Harveys Lake has been fair with most success still coming in the evening and later into the night.

Susquehanna River

The Susquehanna River has been the only place (Other than a bunch of smaller ponds putting up some bluegill) with great action right now. Catfishing has been good lately with all the same areas, baits and times producing. What is hot right now besides the temperatures is the smallmouth bass fishing. Laceyville and above has had the hottest bite. Most fish have been just legal or right under but a few 18+ bruisers were brought to boat. Almost anything you throw at them can do the trick but rubber twisters in light green or chartreuse have been the ticket.

Southern Wayne & Western Pike Counties

Fluctuations in temperatures and water levels have hampered anglers this past month, reducing successful fishing endeavors.

Southeastern Region

Bucks County

Levittown Lake

The extended trout season is right around the corner. Lake Luxembourg will be stocked with trout on Thursday, October 11. The stocking truck is scheduled to arrive at 12:30. S. Montgomery & W. Philadephia Counties

Schuylkill River, Delaware River

Boating Report – With heavy rains and swollen waterways, August was a dangerous month on the water on the Schuylkill River, Delaware River and many of the streams. Multiple fatalities and large numbers of water rescues occurred because of the adverse conditions statewide, and boaters are reminded to please exercise caution when water conditions are high. It’s easy to underestimate the power of water, and far too easy to get into serious trouble as a result. With area waters still at a comfortable temperature for water activities, enjoy what we have left of the season, but most of all be safe and have fun.
