There is a better chance of this being the least exciting Cape Cod report ever, than finding good ice right now. The inconsistent weather and skim ice continues to torment the local anglers. With extremely narrow windows, for both open water and ice fishing, there is not a more challenging time to fish. I was able to land a single white perch in open water before the skim ice returned. That remains the only fish I have heard of this past week.
Fishing Report for Cape Cod
Over at Red Top Sporting Goods they heard of a few anglers having success through the ice last week for some bass and jumbo perch. Since the warm rains melted the ice, it has gone quiet.
Sports Port Bait and Tackle reported lots of skim ice and not a peep of anyone finding holdovers. This doesn’t mean they are not out there! Just takes patience and determination.
Eastmans Sport and Tackle continued the sad song of skim ice and wind. The wind and rain makes it hard for these ponds to freeze enough to be safe for fishing.
Fishing Forecast for Cape Cod
With more of the same weather approaching it will take persistence and timing to find fish in the coming days. There will be chances for open water with warm temperatures on the way. If you have an itch to get on the ice, take all the necessary safety measures! I hate being pessimistic, but the best fishing opportunities might require heading off the Cape toward thicker ice. Staying inside and preparing for the Superbowl is an option as well…

I landed 3 nice rainbows just off Cape. On spoons
why does it take you so long to update your reports, are you just lazy? There was a lot of safe ice down there and I would like to hear about how great the fishing was.
It is as easy as not reading the report if you don’t like it. Not much to write about during the winter when the conditions are like this. Don’t waste your time leaving childish comments.
Same report as last week?Thought would see new forecast with more open water?
you should go out and fish and give us a nice report
