Fishing Report for Cape Cod
All shops on Cape Cod seem to be resembling a collective ghost town. With no fresh news, our Cape report must rely on my casts and keeping an ear to the water.
Thanks to a mid-winter thaw, open water became possible over the past week. The OTW crew was able to find a variety of species over the weekend. Throwing small spoons in a few ponds forced some white perch, rainbows, and a single brown trout to make appearances this winter. Other than the in office chit chat there have been no rumblings of fish being caught around the Cape.
Fishing Forecast for Cape Cod
Over the next week the skim ice will inevitably return. With many nights predicted to drop well below freezing, I would plan on getting out sooner rather than later and fish the open water. Warm temperatures and rain tomorrow, Friday the 15th, may stir up some underwater activity. Throw small spoons, spinners, or live line some shiners. This weekend seems fishy to me. So get a line in before the ice returns!
