Is it bad luck to say spring is… springing? Either way, warm weather is knocking on the door. Fishing has been on the past week, trout, bass, pickerel, you name it and it’s catchable. Throwing a fly, small spoons and spinners will do the trick for the freshly stocked trout. Shiners under a float is the ticket to landing largemouth and pickerel. Live bait won’t last long.
Fishing Report for Cape Cod
Canal Bait and Tackle reported that plenty of anglers having been coming in and stocking up on gear for trout. Peters Pond has been stocked and is a hot place to get a line in!
Over at Red Top Sporting Goods they are having plenty of people coming in buying Powerbait, shiners, nightcrawlers, and lures. With many ponds on the Cape stocked with rainbows it’s time to gear up.
Fishing Forecast for Cape Cod
Warm weather continuing and ponds being filled with trout is setting the Cape up for a productive week. The freshwater bite will only continue to improve. Some warm rain in the forecast will help raise the water temperature and make the fish more active. Be prepared for the bass to start heading into shallower water to warm up. We’re finally stepping out of the dark months and into the paths of some hungry fish.
