Fishing Report For Long Island
Per usual, the salty side of fishing on Long Island remains quiet. Aside from the occasional cod trip, boats are sticking to the harbor. When searching for tight lines, turn your attention toward fresh waters. Trout stocking on Long Island is taking place within the next two weeks and will bring plenty of fishing opportunities.
Paul McCain at River Bay Outfitters in Oceanside reported that there are plenty of trout in the local streams and kettle ponds. The Connetquot River State Park has been extremely productive as well. Paul reminds anglers, to fish the Connetquot, you must get a reservation and arrive very early! But, it can be well worth the effort.
If fishing isn’t on the agenda for this weekend, there are two great shows to spend a day at.
The 2019 Long Island Fly Fishing Expo is this Saturday! Head over to the Radisson Hotel in Hauppauge from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. and check it out.
Also, if you’re up for heading over the bridge to New Jersey, the Saltwater Fishing Expo in Edison is well worth the drive! The show is taking place from March 15 to the 17th.
Make sure you stop by the On The Water booths at either show, grab a free magazine and talk some fishing!
