Erie County

Area Steelhead Streams

There are some Steelhead in 20 Mile, but they haven’t made it south of Route 5. The water is clear and the fish are skittish.

Lake Erie

The walleye fishing is slowing down for the year. The fish are much deeper (100-115’) and Lake Erie has been very rough lately. Spoons and crawler harnesses seem to be the lure of choice. Lake Trout will be coming in shallow this time of year so if you’re looking for a 30-pound Laker head out from North East Marina.

Lake LeBouef

Anglers are catching musky in Lake LeBouef on bucktails and spoons.

Lake Pleasant

Anglers are catching northern pike in Lake Pleasant on the western side using spinnerbaits.

Lawrence County

Cascade Quarry

Anglers are catching recently stocked trout on rubber worms. Anglers are using a variety of colors, but white rubber worms and chartreuse pastebait seems to be the best.

Mercer County

Shenango Reservoir

Anglers are catching crappie in deeper water. Anglers are also catching white bass and hybrid striped bass around the reservoir. The temperatures are dropping, and the fish are starting to be active. The boating season is winding down. The drawdown for the winter pool has started. Those boating in the Fall, remember that the water levels will be lower, and the areas that you could access all spring and summer may cause you to run aground. This time of year, boaters share the waters with hunters so be respectful of each other.

REMINDER:
Anglers are reminded that fall is the time of year when brook and brown trout spawn. When fishing, make sure you are mindful of where you step to avoid stepping on trout egg nests, also known as trout redds. The gravel in a trout redd will appear light in color/clean gravel. Most look like oval or round areas of clean gravel. Some are not much bigger than a frying pan size, others may be larger.
