Erie County
Lake Erie Tributaries
Anglers are catching steelhead in all the tributaries. Most often the conditions are low and clear so use light line with small presentations. Please remember the limit is three steelhead per day and any fish caught after that or foul hooked must be immediately released unharmed. Anyone fishing the mouth of Trout Run and Godfrey Run from 10 pm to 5 am, this is a reminder that you must be 50 yards away from the mouth to fish.
Lake Erie
Anglers are catching lake trout in shallow water this time of year off North East.
Presque Isle Bay
Anglers are catching yellow perch in the bay with mixed results.
Northeast Region
The Mandatory Cold Weather Life Jacket Wear is now in effect and runs from November 1st through April 30th. You must wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device while underway or at anchor on boats less than 16 feet in length and any canoe or kayak.
Lackawanna County
The cold weather has finally set in the northeast. Fishing and boating activity is very quiet across the county. Before the cold snap, anglers were still fishing at Merli Sarnowski County Park Lake and catching their daily limit of trout. Even the few bass anglers are not having much success.
Western Bradford & Sullivan County
Anglers targeting bass in the Northern Branch of the Susquehanna River are reporting success using blade baits and jigging with brown-tailed plastics.

Anglers are reminded that fall is the time of year when Brook and Brown Trout spawn. When fishing, make sure you are mindful of where you step to avoid stepping on trout egg nests, also known as trout redds. The gravel in a trout redd will appear light in color/clean gravel. Most look like oval or round areas of clean gravel. Some are not much bigger than a frying pan size, others may be larger.
Northumberland, Snyder and Union Counties
Boaters are reminded to wear a life jacket. Mandatory Cold Weather Life Jacket wear began on November 1, 2019 and ends on April 30, 2020. This law is important, as you lose your life to cold water. Water temperatures continue to drop as winter sets in.
Fishing is currently slow on the river. Anglers are catching trout in most of the trout streams across the County.
Clinton County
Fishing Creek
The water temperature is in the 40s. The water level is low. Approach your favourite fishing areas with stealth. With the colder nights, give the water some time to warm up before heading
Fly patterns that are currently catching trout include peach/orange egg, flashback pheasant tail, Frenchie, hares ear and large stonefly nymphs.
Olive or black streamer patterns will work in the deeper holes and/or near downed trees or boulders.
Centre County
Spring Creek
The water temperature is in the low 50s. The water flow is perfect for fishing. Most anglers are catching trout in the late morning and early afternoon hours.
Fly patterns that are currently working include peach/orange egg patterns, sow bugs, scuds, walt’s worm and bead head pheasant tails.
Southeastern Region
E. Berks County/N. Montgomery County
Local Anglers of the Schuylkill River in Montgomery County great success catching Flathead Catfish. Anglers have been reporting success around Black Rock for the last couple years, but now anglers are also catching them further downstream in the Conshohocken area. One Flathead was over 40lbs. Bluegill seem to be the preferred bait. Good Luck.
Bucks County
We had another successful extended season trout stocking. Thank you to all who came out to help and participate. Anglers had great success immediately after the stocking with reports of limits caught within the first couple hours of the stocking. Trout anglers were using a variety of paste baits and trout jigs.
Another reminder that the mandatory cold weather PFD wear has taken effect starting on November 1st and continue until April 30, 2020. Boaters must wear a life jacket on boats less than 16 feet in length and on any paddle craft to include canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards. Always plan ahead and make sure your mandatory safety gear is on board and in serviceable condition. Check that your United States Coast Guard approved PFD is in good, serviceable condition as well.
Lehigh County
Due to cooler water temperatures, the musky activity has been more active at Leaser Lake. Anglers are having success using larger spoons, jerk baits, and lifelike imitation lures at depths from 10 to 20 feet. Most of the action seems to be coming from the North Launch. Anglers report they are catching mid-30 up to 50-inch muskies. Remember November 1st to April 30th is the mandatory PFD wear period for all canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and boat less than 16 feet.
Northampton County
Anglers have reported catching brown trout in the Monocacy Creek right below the falls in Bethlehem City’s Illicks Mill Park, using a variety of nymph patterns and small dark streamers. The occasional trout has also been caught in the Walnutport Canal near the Locktenders house in Walnutport Borough.

Lastly, if you plan to hit the waterways by boat, remember that the water is cooling off quickly with the cold nights. For smaller watercraft, wearing a PFD from November through April is a requirement, please refer to our 2019 boating regulations for more specifics.
