Tioga County
Hills Creek and Beechwood Lakes
Anglers are catching bluegill, yellow perch, and crappie on mousies and waxworms. Chartreuse and other bright colored jigs are working well. Minnows have also been effective for both Yellow Perch and Crappie. Anglers are catching Trout through the ice at Beechwood. Warmer weather has pushed through the area forming standing water on top of the ice.
REMINDER: Always check ice conditions yourself before heading out on the lake. It is a good idea to contact local sporting goods stores for ice condition updates prior to venturing out.
Clinton County
Fishing Creek
The water temperature is in the low 40s. Weather conditions over the next few days remain favourable for fishing.
Anglers are reporting success nymphing pocket water for hungry post-spawn Trout. With water temperatures cooling, look for fish in slower moving pockets behind structure. Small nymphs and caddis larvae imitations are producing fish.
Streamers are also working well given the current water conditions.
Centre County
Spring Creek
Water temperatures remain in the 40s. Deeper pockets and tail outs are holding fish consistently.
Anglers report success nymphing close to the bottom in slower-moving pockets. Pheasant tail nymphs and hot spot sow bugs are great options when using this technique. Walt’s Worm and egg imitations are fooling hungry trout as well.
Working streamers slowly through the water column has also been reported to be effective. Sculpin patterns are working particularly well for this.
