Anglers are reporting good success with Crappies around the causeway (RT 26 Bridge). Live minnows seem to be best for targeting Crappies and other Panfish as well. Anglers are also having success fishing for both Channel Catfish and Bullhead Catfish in the evening hours at the upper lake access areas. Nightcrawlers, chicken liver, and various scented preformed baits are currently working well for these species.

Colyer Lake

Anglers have been successful for a variety of fish including Bullhead, Sunfish, Crappie and Bass using a variety of baits including nightcrawlers, minnows, spinners. Lake access areas have been providing good fishing opportunities with most success coming in the cooler hours of the day.

Poe Valley Lake

Anglers are reporting having success with both Sunfish and Trout in various areas of the lake. Most success is from anglers using live minnows and nightcrawlers.

Clinton & Lycoming Counties

West Branch Susquehanna River

Be careful boating in the deeper power boating pools as the water levels have slightly dropped despite recent rain events. Many shallow areas have become hazards for even the jet boats and experienced boaters. Many of the areas are still able to be boated, just play it safe.

Fishing remains productive throughout the region. Many anglers are reporting good catch rates on Smallmouth Bass in both Pine Creek and the West Branch. Angers are having succusses using primarily creature baits and soft plastics. One angler had an interesting experience fishing in Pine Creek recently. He was bass fishing in his kayak and hooked a 35-inch carp that took him for quite the ride up and down the creek. He eventually landed the fish after having to backpaddle away from some submerged logs the carp was headed for. Cool experience and good story from this fellow!
