Striped bass fishing is starting to kick off again now that the ice on Lake Wallenpaupack has melted off. Decker Brook, Lackawaxen River, Shohola Creek, and Masthope Creek have all been stocked with trout and are ready for opening day of trout season.
Lily Pond was a popular spot for Mentor Youth Day with a lot of kids catching their limits from the shoreline even in the snow and hail. One dad, on the Lackawaxen River, was grateful for an experienced fly-fisherman, who he had just met on the river, who took some time out of his day to teach him and his son techniques for fly fishing which they were trying out for the first time.
Be sure to check out our stocking schedule and come help with stocking trout in your favorite spots on the river.

Brookfield Energy and Wallenpaupack Lake Estates will be hosting Safe Boating Courses at the end of April so if you’re interested in obtaining your Boating Safety Education Certificate before summer, be sure to attend one of those courses. Call 570-226-1370 for more information and to register.
Northcentral Region
Clearfield County
West Branch of the Susquehanna River
Anglers are currently having success targeting Tiger Musky in the river. The key to success is putting in the time! Casting methods and bait have both produced fish equally well. The high water and warmer temperatures have the fish feeding.
Anglers who are targeting panfish have also been successful over the past week. Meal worms and night crawlers underneath a float are working well.
Curwensville Lake
Anglers are enjoying the mild temps and open water! Some have been successful targeting Perch and Crappie. These fish are easily accessible from the shoreline. Jigs and minnows have been working the best.
Parker Lake, Shagger’s Inn Pond, Janesville Dam, and Goss Run
Mentored Youth Day was a great success throughout Clearfield County! These impoundments serve as the perfect place to get the next generation “hooked” on fishing! There will be no better time or place for a child to have a shot at a “wall hanger”. Janesville Dam and Goss Run were both recently stocked and are now teaming with Trout. Good luck to all anglers who will be out Saturday for the Statewide Trout opener!

Centre County
Sayers Lake
Anglers are currently having success targeting Perch, Crappie and Sunfish from shore. Areas around the roadbeds at Hunter Run Cut and Summer/ Winter Launch are proving to be some great locations to target. Anglers using minnows and nightcrawlers primarily as bait are having a great experience. Anglers fishing in the spillway are currently finding fish in the backwater. Minnows suspended under a bobber are producing the best results.
Bald Eagle Creek (Keystone Select Special Reg Area
Anglers have been successful catching Trout fly fishing using a variety of nymphs and streamers. Anglers have also reported success on spinners, paste baits, and live bait.
Spring Creek
Angler pressure has been moderate on all sections of Spring Creek. Success has been on live bait, spinners, nymphs, and streamers.
