Rhode Island Fishing Report
The Frances Fleet in Point Judith has had a few weeks off due to the weather, and to take care of some repairs, but with some weather windows on the horizon, they will likely be sailing as soon as possible. To check on the schedule for upcoming trips and to make reservations check out their website or call the office.
Ralph, at Crafty One Customs reopened on February 1st and the shop will be open from 9-6 Wednesday through Friday and 9-3 on Saturdays. The lakes and ponds are opening back up, after skimming up last weekend, and anglers are still taking advantage of the mild winter. The salmon fishery throughout the state continues to garner interest, with good reports coming in from Melville, among others. Saltwater reports have been quiet, but with more settled weather on tap, we may see some more cod and/or holdover bass interest.
Elisa, from Snug Harbor Marina reports that anglers are still looking for holdover striped bass on the warmer days, but the bite has remained a bit slower than in years past. The weather wasn’t very conducive to sailing for cod over the past few days, but the few boats that have gone, are still catching here and there. That bite will likely improve as the weather remains mild and the days get longer.
Dustin, at RI Kayak Fishing Adventures, had a quieter week due to the skim ice and windy conditions since last weekend, but told me he will be taking full advantage of the open water opportunities over the next few days. The trout and Sebago salmon bite has been good for the anglers that have been targeting them, so that should be a safe bet over the coming week. Largemouth have become a bit more lethargic, but slowly presented baits and jigs have been getting the job done. Reports from holdover striped bass anglers have been quieter, but it should start to gain steam as weather stays warm and the days get longer. Opportunities and target species will increase as we get closer to spring, so head over to rikfa.com to book your kayak and/or shore fishing trip today!

Rhode Island Fishing Forecast
Ice fishermen got a quick tease last weekend, but the mild winter prevails, and we’re all back to open water fishing unless you want to head north to find fishable ice.
Rhode Island saltwater anglers should start to see more opportunities to find some cod, with the temperatures staying mild, and the wind forecasts starting to improve. Reports from the cod grounds have been quiet, but most anglers are still finding a few when they get a chance to venture out. Holdover striped bass reports have been quiet as well, but it should be a steadily improving option as we make our way towards spring. Recent trout and Sebago Salmon stockings have produced good catches for anglers working the rivers and streams. Some of the smaller ponds may still be skimmed over, but most larger bodies of water should provide ample opportunities for bass, pickerel, and panfish.
