Northeast Offshore Report - September 29, 2023

Another weekend, another windstorm. Beyond some catch-and-release giants, and a few recreational-sized bluefin picked up on Cape Cod’s inshore grounds, it was a lean week. The most interesting news was that of albies off the back side of Cape Cod spotted by fishermen trying to run and gun for bluefin. This is pretty unusual, seeing albies north of Monomoy.

Giants are still milling around Rhode Island, Cape Cod Bay, and Stellwagen, with some rec fish in the mix at Stellwagen. Live mackerel and RonZs were working on the last weather window.

Right now, we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed for better weather and more to report next week. The weather looks like it might open up for us mid-week.

Anthony and I did our final video report today, but we’ll be continuing the written report here for a few more weeks.
