An exicting finish to the Mid-Atlantic Tournament saw two 700-pound-plus blue marlin brough to the scales on the final day. An 81-pound white marlin brough home the biggest check. Bigeye fishing has been good overall in the mid-Atlantic canyons, while billfishing has been so-so.
New Jersey/New York
Mahi fishing is very good around floating structure. There are 100-plus-pound yellowfin hitting poppers inshore of the canyons, but the bite’s been running hot and cold. Small bluefin continue to bite inshore, and the steady jig bite continues off Montauk.

Rhode Island and Cape Cod saw a greater number of 60-inch class bluefin this week, while giants continue to feast on bunker inside Cape Cod Bay. Farther north, a mix of rec fish and giants are being caught all the way up to Maine. Mahi are hanging around the offshore wind structures, and tilefishing is good. Some very big mahi are around, including a pending Rhode Island state record 37-pounder caught with Maridee.
