High School Fishing Club Tongs Sea Bass off NJ

The Barnegat High School Fishing Club gets ready for their trip aboard the Carolynn Ann III last Thursday.

It’s great to see high schools encouraging kids to get out and enjoy the ocean, like at Barnegat High School where the school fishing club ran a trip aboard the Carolynn Ann III last Thursday for their annual fall sea bass trip.  “We had 28 students from freshman to seniors, and 4 adult chaperones fishing for sea bass and they did a great job catching.” said club advisor Capt. Brett Taylor.

More than 80 keepers were caught with some approaching 22 inches.  Senior Jesse Moore won the club pool catching a 5- or 6-pound triggerfish.  Jesse won a Daiwa rod and reel combination donated by Harvey Cedars retired resident Samual Lenox.  The students will be gearing up for our next fall trip for Striped Bass and Bluefish, and getting ready for our 4th Annual Fisherman’s Fleamarket at Barnegat High School (December 8th, 9am to 1pm).
