The Long Island Flyrodders are dedicated to the sport of fly fishing. LIFR was organized as a structured club in 1985 by a handful of dedicated fly fishermen from Long Island and Queens. Today, the club consists of more than 200 members who enjoy four seasons of fly-fishing activity including winter fly-tying, spring cleanups and fishing, summer cookouts and largemouth bass fishing, and fall saltwater fly-fishing for stripers and blues.
Squaw Island Fishing Club
Squaw Island Fishing Club was founded in 1957. It was started by, and mainly focuses on boating fisherman on the south shore of Western Suffolk and Eastern Nassau Counties on Long Island. The club runs many fishing and social activities including sponsorship in local tournaments as well as numerous weekend member competitive tournaments and events. We encourage and support conservation and safe boating and etiquette.

The Traditional Surfcasters is a small club founded in 2002 with a philosophy that attempts to hold onto the traditions of surf fishing while taking advantage of a willingness of our senior members to mentor surf anglers who are new to the sport. In 2013, the club finished first in the release category, second in the overall competition, and Paul Hoenig finished in first place in the individual competition in the New York Surf Fishing Contest. They are looking to add a few members who share our philosophies and who might help us achieve first place finishes across the board in the future. The Traditional Surfcasters fish mostly with artificial lures, follow a catch and release ethic, and emphasize a respect for the sport, the species we seek, and a life-long learning curve.
