Local Luremaker: Vinnie Fellom – Geezer’s Teasers

I was introduced to Geezer’s Teasers when their creator, Vinnie Fellom pitched an article on fishing teasers for fluke. The article, which ran in May 2010, was an excellent introduction on how and why adding a small, dressed teaser to your fluke rig will put more doormats in your cooler.

Vinnie sent up a few samples of his teasers with his article. The squid teasers in particular, were incredible. The durable epoxied body and lifelike profile, not to mention sharp, strong hook, picked out with a fluke’s large, but still delicate mouth in mind, made the lure look like a sure winner.

The teasers caught a wide variety of species for us including bluefish, sea bass, stripers, sea robins, and of course, fluke. Vinnie’s personal best on a Geezer’s Teaser is an 8.62-pound doormat, but his wife bested that with a 12-pound monster.

Vinnie’s been making teasers for about 6 years in Farmingdale on Long Island. His most popular teasers are the Candy Squid and epoxy sand eel patterns for the Bay and a larger red-and-white squid teaser for the ocean.

Vinnie sells his teasers at flea markets over the winter, but also takes orders directly. You can email Vinnie about his Geezer’s Teasers at shavin_67@msn.com

      Kevin,

I added a couple more photos to the post. Vinnie told me he likes black teasers to represent small black sea bass and the orange/tan ones to mimic sea robins. If you shoot Vinnie an email, he’ll be able to give you a full rundown of the teasers and colors he offers.

I used Geezers Teasers today for the first time out of Captree. RSA fluke trip and they killed. They are tied beautifully and worked very well for me. I had to throw back a 20 with that slot permit but its nice to know they like these Teasers. Put me down for some more I’m going to need other colors.
