New this year, the Striper Cup will be offering prizes to anglers that catch-and-release striped bass. With an eye toward the future of the fishery stock, we’d like to reward the many anglers who are catching and releasing trophy-sized striped bass while participating in the Striper Cup, in hopes that it will encourage more anglers to hear the message of responsible competition that the Striper Cup stands for!
This year, eligible winners can qualify for prizes from On The Water and So-Lo Marine, on top of the grand prize in the Catch and Release Photo Contest!
It’s easy to enter. Registered anglers just need to catch a striper, take some quick measurements, snap a picture, and then release it unharmed. From there just submit a signed affidavit to us and we’ll handle the rest!
In order to be eligible, awards start for all stripers over 30 pounds. Weight can either be taken by a handheld scale, or calculated with the following formula: “Girth x Girth x Length / 800.” The girth of a fish is typically assessed at the widest part around the body.
The grand prize for the Catch and Release division this year is the Catch and Release Photo Contest. A selection of photos submitted by catch-and-release anglers will be voted on and the winning picture will be turned into an original piece of artwork done up by Mike Savlen of Savlen Studios, immortalizing your released fish for all to see!

For more information, including how to submit weigh slips, please check out the rules at the Photo Contest page. Best of luck, and we look forward to hearing from you!
