This Week on OTW TV: Prince Edward Island Giants

For as long as I have fished, I’ve heard stories of a land whose beauty is surpassed only by its fishing. This past fall, I was given the opportunity to fish with the Keus family on the easternmost point of Canada, and I knew I had to make the trip. I kissed my wife goodbye on my 50th birthday and set out for Prince Edward Island, the giant bluefin tuna capital of the world. The next few days provided the On The Water TV crew and I with a lifetime of memories.

This is the first two-part episode in On The Water TV history, and it’s well worth it. The rich Celtic history, pastoral landscape, healthy fishery and legendary captains made this a truly unforgettable experience that I’d recommend to every fishermen. Join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM for Part 2 of our Prince Edward Island adventure, and if you missed Part 1, you can catch it Thursday at 8:30PM and Friday at 10:00AM.

Captain Cor Keus showed us this photo of the IGFA 80lb-class world record 1,1116lb Giant, caught aboard during a Northlake Charters trip. Cor also held the all-tackle world record before it was broken by Ken Frazier in 1985.

After a 90 minute fight, I caught and released this 800+ lb giant.
It took 90 minutes, but we were able to get this giant to the boat.
