The registration deadline for Fishing For A Cause® charity tournament to benefit the Schwartz Center for Children, is Monday, June 2, 2014. The Fishing For A Cause® two-day tournament is scheduled for Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21, culminating with a celebratory awards dinner on Saturday night under a tent at Pope’s Island Marina in New Bedford, MA. Fishing grounds encompass Cape Cod Bay to Block Island and beyond. In this catch-and-release tournament anglers can depart from and return to their home port. Fishing For a Cause® is a striped bass, bluefish, and fluke tournament organized by and for the benefit of the Schwartz Center for Children, a non-profit organization that provides critical services for children with special developmental and medical needs throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.
Interested anglers can register their own boat at $250 per angler. Alternately, anglers can organize a team for an all-inclusive fishing charter with entry fees starting at $1,500 per charter. Tournament prizes include custom glass trophies, fishing gear, and cash prizes: $2,500 for striped bass, $1,000 for bluefish, and $750 for fluke.
Tickets for the awards Seaside Dinner on Saturday, June 21—complimentary to registered anglers—can be purchased separately at $100 per person. The Seaside Dinner is catered by Pepper’s Fine Catering, with live swing music provided by the eleven time Grammy nominees Belleview Cadillac band.
