Fishing Creek – Late evening fishing has been good! The stream has a murky coloration to it after recent rains. Streamers should be good during the early/mid part of the week.

Centre County

Foster Joseph Sayers Dam – Anglers are catching Bluegill and Yellow Perch at access areas near the causeway and Lower Greens Fishing Pier. The bait of choice is minnows and twister tails.

Anglers fishing from boats are catching Crappies while trolling in deeper waters. Smallmouth Bass and Catfish are also being caught in the evening hours.

Black Moshannon Lake – Anglers are catching Chain Pickerel and Smallmouth Bass using live bait, spinners, and rubber worms. They are also catching Bluegill.

Spring Creek – Anglers are catching trout in all sections using a variety of lures and flies. Small dry flies and spinners are working, along with some live bait.

Western Bradford & Sullivan Counties

Anglers using large black and orange colored spinners were eliciting musky strikes on the North Branch of the Susquehanna River.  If you are targeting these fish, just remember they are called the ‘fish of one thousand’ casts for a reason! Use patience and cover likely water thoroughly. Also, with the recent rain in the region the river is running perfect for paddlers! Make sure to enjoy the mild weather and nice flows with a day on the water.

Southern Luzerne & Southern Columbia Counties

Fishing on the Susquehanna River continues to be good, with anglers reporting catches of smallmouth bass, walleye and muskie. Most fish are still being taken on the old standby’s-soft plastics and lipless crankbaits. Anglers targeting catfish on the river have also been doing well.

Lily Lake continues to produce bass in nice numbers, as well as trout and panfish. Though, most anglers targeting trout are finding them in deeper water.

Activity on the local trout streams has been slow; those finding success are doing so by fishing the evening hatches. Stealth and presentation is paramount this time of year! Make sure to wear dark clothing and make sure your hat brim is also a dark color. Wearing white or another bright color can be the difference between a great or poor day on the water.

As people start to shift focus to preparing for the upcoming hunting seasons, let’s not forget the abundant opportunities for some of the year’s finest fishing during the fall months. Both Lily Lake and Lake Irena are scheduled to receive fall stockings of trout, and the DHALO section of the Nescopeck Creek is one of the most scenic stretches of the creek. What better way to spend a crisp fall afternoon, that by being on the stream?

Susquehanna County

It’s that time of year when the Susquehanna River is low and launching boats can be difficult for the public and Conservation Officers alike. In some cases it may be easier if the boat trailer is positioned slightly off the ramp to allow more water under the boat. Please be respectful of the boat launches and don’t make a mess for others and don’t overestimate the capabilities of yourself or your equipment.

As the water cools in the fall boaters are encouraged to wear their PFD, as even an experienced boater can capsize their boat.

Southern Wallenpaupack District

Lake Wallenpaupack has provided anglers with plenty of action the past week. Anglers are having good success fishing for walleyes using jigs and spinners with nightcrawlers.

All boaters need to be aware that all unpowered boats (canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, rowboats, etc) launching or retrieving at PFBC access areas and DCNR state parks or forests must have a current boat registration (issued by any state), or PFBC Use Permit, or DCNR Launch or Mooring Permit.  For more information, visit http://fishandboat.com/registration.htm.

Erie County — West

Lake Erie & Presque Isle Bay – When wave conditions allow, boat anglers are having success for Walleye as well as Yellow Perch in deep waters in the lake off Gull Point, Walnut and Elk Creeks.  Shoreline anglers in the bay are also doing well on pan fish and bass.

Over the past summer months there have been several boat accidents on the lake.  Please take the time to ensure your mechanical equipment is in good working order. Also be sure that all safety equipment is up to date and in good working order and keep a close eye on changing weather conditions.

Western Erie Tributaries – Shore anglers are still having some limited success with catfish in the lower stretches of Elk and Walnut Creeks.  Additionally, it has been reported that shore anglers are having some success with Steelhead at the mouth of Walnut Creek in the early morning hours.

Erie County – East

Anglers are reporting some pan fish being taken at Eaton Reservoir, Lake LeBoeuf, and Lake Pleasant. The bait of choice is still grubs and minnows.

Lake Erie – Anglers out of the North East Marina are reporting good Walleye action in 115 feet of water 55 to 65 feet down with 10 colors of lead core, using plugs, spoons and worm harnesses. Smallmouth Bass are still being taken from the W’s to East Ave. in 25 to 35 feet of water. Perch are being caught in 55 to 60 feet of water west of Freeport beach, Red Roof, W’s and 55 to 65 off the Point. Angles are still catching pan fish and Bass off of the North & South Piers. Note: Shades Beach Marina is closed while construction is underway to improve the Marina.

Lake Erie Temperature is 70°

Edinboro Lake Temperature is 74°

For current Lake Erie conditions call the North East Marina at 814-725-8244.

Crawford County

French Creek – French Creek continues to be the hotspot around Crawford County! Walleyes are being caught from above Meadville to Cochranton, as well as Smallmouth Bass. Shiners are the bait of choice for Walleyes and bass. Crawfish lures and jointed stickbaits seem to attract fish as well.

Mercer County

Buhl Lake – Largemouth Bass and Bluegill seem to be hitting on a worm under a float. They are small in size so please handle with care and return them to the water.
