Despite hurricane Jose's best efforts, StriperFest 2017 was a huge success with the biggest turnout of anglers and the best party yet!

Congratulations to Hookers Inc, your 2017 Striper Cup champions!
I was standing about 15 feet away from Paul when they announced his name. I was very happy for Paul when I saw his reaction and the reaction of the group that was with him. Congratulations and use it in the best of health!
i would love to enter but i strictly fish boston harbor and i cant compete with all you cape of cod guys , i think you should consider certain parts of new england not just the cape, because you guys know there are two capes in mass cape ann and the cape of cod hope this dosent fall on death ears im just saying i would love to get a reply but we will see
Hi Buzz, The Striper Cup is open to anglers from New Jersey to Maine. We have many competitors from the Boston area who fish the Harbor and do quite well.
I can just about bet one of those winners on that stage pulled the winning fish out of Boston Harbor, and I got my personal best (48″) out of the harbor this year.
Does anyone know what happened to Steven Squillante Jr. from Mass who was the original winner or the grand prize Cobia Boat. His ticket was pulled first but was nowhere to be found. Sorry Steven next time leave the wife and kids home.
I’m right there with you edzecc1 and I’m sure everyone else. Where was Steven Squillante? Just terrible
I am very interested into why Steven left as well….have you guys got any information?

GET A LAWYER STEVE, YOU WON THIS BOAT !!!
a lawyer wont do him any good… the rules clearly state you must be present when your ticket is pulled .. if you leave early thats his mistake … it does suck id be upset to .. but rules are rules
Leo, get with the program and stop being an ambulance chaser. It has been that way since the inception of this Tournament in 2006! Do us all a favor and do not enter anymore if that is the way you feel. I have moved away from MA and live in MO, but I still enter. He knew the rules when he arrived at the venue. Have a nice day!
Congrats Paul!!!! You deserve it
Sorry i didn’t get in the STRIPER / BLUEFISH contest, but you better believe it next year i’ll be prepared. But it was a great event.5
I think I know Steve. Was his ticket really pulled? I am sure he will be devastated to hear that happened.
On The Water/Striper Cup
Is there anyway you could contact Steven Squillante and do a short story or interview on what happened? Like many people at Striper Fest I am interested into why he left. Did he have a family emergency? Did he just leave thinking he wouldn’t win?
I think it peaked a lot of our interest for those of us who were there. It seems funny someone would come to Striperfest enter their golden ticket and then leave.
Just an idea as I think a lot of us would be interested.

FWIW, I just googled Mr Squillante and it appears he’s a young entrepreneur who recently launched a business. Perhaps Mr Squillante had to leave the event due to business reasons? In any event I think it is only right the On The Water/Striper Cup returns the boat to its rightful winner, especially given the fact we dont want to discourage entrepreneurship
Haha what!?
Rules are rules and that how it was set up you have to be there to win if your name is pulled final
