The 7th Annual installment of the Hooks For Heroes fishing tournament will take place on Saturday, June 16th at the Halloween Yacht Club. Over 200 fishermen, disabled military veterans and their families are expected to participate with 100% of all entry fees and donations will go to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 13 Stamford Operation Gift Cards program.
Since the 2012 inaugural Halloween Yacht Club Hooks for Heroes event, this annual fundraiser has collected and donated over $53,000 to benefit wounded warriors and U.S. military veterans from the Walter Reed National Military Hospital.
Halloween Yacht Club’s Hooks for Heroes is an annual fishing tournament that was created to help support our heroes who serve and have served our country. We also honor our local first responders who put their life on the line each and every day. Hooks for Heroes is a community event and all items are donated from our local businesses and the general public. Having the support of our community we are able to contribute 100% of the proceeds collected to a 501-c3 / 501-c4 organization. This year’s proceeds will go to the Stamford DAV Chapter 13 “Operation Gift Cards”.
Operation Gift Cards
Operation Gift Cards (for our wounded troops and their families) is a program started by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 13, a 501(c)4 (all volunteer) non-profit, which has organized the delivery of over $1,348,000 in Post Exchange gift cards and corporate donations to the wounded troops at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Hospital in Bethesda, MD during 155 monthly/bimonthly visits during the last 12 1/2 years.
