(May 15, 2018) Publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has released “Born to Fish: How an Obsessed Angler Became the World’s Greatest Striped Bass Fisherman,” by Tim Gallagher and Greg Myerson.
In 2011, Greg Myerson landed an 82-pound striped bass that shattered the all-tackle world-record. It was the crowning achievement for a man who led a harrowing, sometimes dissolute life until he turned himself around, thanks to his rod and reel.
Born to Fish tells the story of how Myerson, the “Mozart of fishing,” overcame learning disabilities, substance abuse, and the violence associated with a father in the mob to triumph in the world of sportfishing. He then used his fame to launch the World Record Striper Company, which sells the RattleSinker® lures he designed to mimic the sound of lobsters. During an appearance on the TV show Shark Tank, Mark Cuban bought a 33 percent share of Greg’s company. Greg now actively promotes catch-and-release fishing.
