Rutgers Cooperative Extension Offers Fisheries Science Course for Fishermen

Rutgers Fisheries Science Course is intended to educate stakeholders on the science and management processes impacting fisheries industries.

Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) is hosting their Introductory Fisheries Science for Stakeholders (IFISSH) course again in 2019.

The objective of this course is to educate stakeholders of New Jersey’s commercial and recreational fisheries so that they will better understand and make progress on issues impacting their industries, including the science, management, and responsible stewardship of fishery resources.

This course is open to all who are interested and will meet every Tuesday from Jan.29–Apr.2,2019 during the evenings (6:30–8:30PM) at the RCE of Ocean County in Toms River, NJ (1623 Whitesville Rd).

This will be a “HyFlex” course. All sessions will be broadcasted live via webinar for participation in-class or remotely.

    Will I have access to the Webinars at anytime, I sometimes work in the evenings?

    AS I am a disabled Vet I can not sit in on classes, as I understand the introduction I can also Participate on my computer by restarting. Is that correct?

    Steven: Slides for all presentations will be shared with all registrants. Some lectures will be recorded and made available later, but not all of them based on speakers’ preferences with respect to recording and to promote live participation so that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the valuable Q&A sessions.

    Fiore: You can participate live in-class in Toms River, NJ or remotely via webinar. As mentioned above, copies of the presenters’ slides will be emailed out to registrants and some lectures will be recorded, but not all of them to promote live participation.
