Man that is messed up =I waited all year for this and it was my first time and I took days off from my job-it’s NOT RIGHT to cancel this close and over such a small virus=THEY HAVE TO RESCHEDULE IT THIS SOON LIKE THIS SUMMER-NOT GOING TO WAIT UNTILL NEXT YEAR

This is the most closed-minded post ever. You clearly have no grasp on the far-reaching effects an event like a fishing expo can have on the transmission and propagation of COVID-19. This is by no means a ‘small’ virus (or problem).

You must be one of those guys that eat the seekonk River bass???

I totally understand. I have been a speaker and vendor and a person who attended the shows. It could be the worse thing for those that shake hands and HUG all our fishing friends. There will be another year and the fishermen will be that much more Hungry for a show. Sorry to all those that had to do prep..but a very good decision

Was looking forward to bringing my grandson to his first fishing expo. Hope they reschedule and not cancel.

Going to miss the Tow Boat deal, but i fully understand.

    Good idea!

It’s better to live and fish another day.

Ugh. I’m going to miss the show and a trip to my favorite restaurants on Federal Hill.

Better to be safe rather than sorry. This is one nasty Pandemic.

  9. Jeff

It is sad! But it is better safe than sorry. Unfortunately the Corona virus caught almost every country in the free world off balance. We can only pray that this is a short term issue. If not the impact would be horrible to all people. Be safe and be conscious of what you do and how you do it.

Who ever said “small virus”, is a complete @##$%&>!

  11. Bryan

This is a virus that is nothing according to the news it’s killed 1300 people world wide, how many people die from the flu each year, but that’s ok we can deal with that. Suicide in the US is more than that but we do not make a big issue out of that. Look at the back of your Lysol wipes coronavirus is listed on there and guess what they didn’t make the label in the last month so they could add that it’s bogus, wash you hands like any other virus you try to prevent from getting and get on with life.

Cowardly america,we’re the healthy ones, where’s that dam wall

  13. Rick

Is the Plum Island Surfcaster show still on?

    1. Rick

Just saw that PISC show is also canceled.

Any virus that kills people must be contained. But these precautions are painful. I’ve never seen anything like it. If the Fake Pumpkinhead “president” hadn’t disbanded the taskforce Obama had set up, this virus would be much better contained and had a lot more earlier test kits. I feel bad for anyone looking forward to these shows. I could sure use a fishing fun distraction about now.

Once again it’s all the presidents fault. How many people have died due to the influenza outbreak this year. The media and politicians have created hysteria what a shame a sad state for this country. For once can we speak without blame.

    1. Don

It’s not hysteria. I usually travel to China 4 times/year and work with a team of about 300. This virus has a very high communication rate and is between 15 and 30 time MORE deadly than the flu. Perspective – that means that all things being equal – it could kill about 1.6 MILLION Americans.

We don’t know how widespread it is because we don’t have proper tests… but it is now spreading through communities – so people coming into the country aren’t the problem – just a dog-whistle and red meat.

We need testing, and more importantly an effective treatment (which we have for the flu.)

This is NOT a Small Virus.
Read the article in the Prov. Journal of the guy who survived the onsault of the disease. A regular guy. 48 yes. old. Takes care of himself. Almost died ! Lungs being drained every 2 hrs. Given Last Rites. Thinking this is a small emidemic event is insanely dangerous !
Just be happy to live healthy another day, and able to go fishing later this season ! !

You can’t let fear take over your life.
I am ashamed of what our society has become.
Pointing fingers, blaming others, looking for a hand out, because it”s to hard to get off your butt.
Fearing of the world climate change global warming.
    Blaming guns and gun manufactors.
People need to step up and teach others to take responsibility for ones action and don’t be so gullible to what you read and hear.
    Shut up and fish!
Live life to the fullest be kind and nice to others.
I promise this virus will pass and the world is healthy as can be.
This is called life and in life there are life cycles that come and go.
