Come to Nickerson State Park this Saturday, April 20 from 9 AM to noon for the Kid’s Fishing Festival hosted by Goose Hummock. There will be food, fishing equipment, and instruction provided by the knowledge staff of Goose Hummock and OTW.

Nickerson State Park is a state-owned, public recreation area of more than 1,900 acres located on Cape Cod in Brewster, Massachusetts. The park’s sandy soil and scrub pines surround many kettle ponds which are dependent on groundwater and precipitation. The ponds are generously stocked with rainbow, brook, and brown trout throughout the spring, and the clear, deep water allows many trout, especially the browns, to survive and grow to large sizes. Popular lures for Nickerson trout include gold spoons, spinners, and stickbaits. Productive baits include small live shiners, Berkley PowerBait, and nightcrawlers.
